Steven played over 400 senior professional games over 14 years between the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Championship. He started his career as a professional youth at Glasgow Rangers. Signing for the club on his 6th Birthday and continuing into the reserves at 17 years old. Steven then signed for Airdrie United and 216 games in their first team winning the Scottish 2nd Division and Scottish Challenge Cup.
In January 2009 he signed a pre contract with Championship team Dunfermline Athletic. He joined in June 2009 and went onto win the Scottish Championship. Scoring on the day the won promotion to the Premiership. Steven went on to make just over 100 appearances for Dunfermline including games against Rangers and Celtic and against players such as Robbie Keane and Steven Davis.
In June 2012 Steven signed for Dumbarton F.C in the Scottish Championship and played in 106 games and managed to finish 5th in the league. Dumbarton’s highest finish in 50 plus years.
In January 2015 Steven signed for Clyde F.C and Played under Barry Ferguson. After 20 games and finishing 4th in the league Steven opted for a new life in Canada in order to further his coaching career.
When playing in the Premiership Steven started completing his coaching badges through the Scottish Football Association. Starting at nursery school age and working through to U18. Steven structured the Glasgow school development program and continued to work in nurseries and school across Glasgow to help develop better footballers for the future. Steven also worked closely with professional clubs running striker specific training to help develop academy players progress to the first team.
